An Italian Ship with 23 Passengers was Hijacked in Somalia

Mogadishu - A ship with the flag of Italia, Montecristo, with 23 passengers was attacked by 5 armed pirates at 620 miles off Somalia Coast. It was still unknown whether the ship was taken or not by the pirates. The company which owned the ship, D'Alesio Group, said that they had lost contact with the ship after the piracy on Monday 10 October 2011 at 06.45 Italian time.

"The last thing we heard from the captain of the ship is that 5 men are attacking the ship," said the company on Tuesday 11 October 2o11. Some sources said that the piracy was conducted by a group of pirates. But the company itself could not make sure that the ship was taken or not.

Montecristo brought 23 passengers from Italia, India and Ukraine. A pirate who escaped with some of his partners from the guard of Tanzania beach said that the pirates had taken over the ship.

"Some of us who escaped from the guard of Tanzania beach had taken over the sheep," said a pirate, Mohamed.  A week ago, the navy of Tanzania arrested a group of pirates which tried to  attack an oil exploration ship.
