Corn, Soybean and Wheat Lower Your Cholesterol

A research by Helena Gylling MD PhD finds a fact that Plant Stanol Ester (PSE) which is included into plant, like vegetable, soybean, corn and wheat. It is able to lower cholesterol. 


"The structure of PSE which is similar to cholesterol will help binding bile salt in alimentary tract so that the cholesterol absorbing from foods is obstructed," Helena, who is a senior researcher in University of Kuopio, Finland, said in Jakarta on Saturday 15 October 2011.

Helena explained clinically there's total reduction of cholesterol up to 8% and LDL cholesterol up to 11% after consuming PSE for about one or two weeks. 

"In developed countries, PSE is highly recommended to consume. PSE for the right diet. PSE contents a substance which may activate the protein transporter on the intestinal wall so that the cholesterol which is absorbed by the intestinal wall can be cleaned out through stool," She explained.
